Ontario Provincial Police are investigating allegations of municipal corruption at Hamilton's City Hall.

The Spectator has obtained information that shows the OPP executed a search warrant on Sept. 19 for the office of city manager Glen Peace.

The warrant shows police were looking for e-mails, correspondence and handwritten notes contained in two files related to the establishment licence of CD Bar Club.

The OPP's anti-racket squad confirmed in August that it had launched an investigation into the issuing of city permits.

At least four city councillors said they were questioned about strict licensing restrictions placed on CD's on Ottawa Street North, which has been a frequent source of neighbourhood friction and police complaints.

The search warrant alleges that "municipal corruption" took place between May 10, 2004, and October 4, 2005. The name of the person alleged to have committed the criminal offence under investigation has been blacked out.

It's not known if the person is a staff member, councillor or private citizen. Article continues....
