Hells Angels open first Hamilton chapter
The Hells Angels -- the world's most powerful outlaw biker gang -- has established a new chapter in a fortified east Hamilton clubhouse.

The Big Red Machine, as the gang is often known, celebrated its official arrival in the Steel City on Friday with a large party at the two-storey brick building at 269 Lottridge Street.

"We believe it was the official opening of the chapter," Detective Steve Pacey of the major crime unit told reporters yesterday.

It's the same building that was home to another bike gang until police shut it down seven years ago.

Hamilton Chief Brian Mullan said police are taking the development "extremely seriously" and will be keeping a close eye on the new arrivals.

Pacey said there have been Hells Angels living in Hamilton for more than 20 years, including former national president Walter Stadnik. But it's the first time the club has established a chapter in the city.

Asked if the public and police should be concerned, he replied: "They should be as concerned as with any other organized gang."

Pacey said police expect members of the new chapter to carry on much the same criminal activities as they did when they belonged to other chapters. Source.
