The Perils of Being a Councillor
A Hamilton councillor says he apologized to a city staffer after making inappropriate sexual comments to her.

Ward 1 Councillor Marvin Caplan, who is married with children, said the incident happened over drinks at an international biotechnology conference in Washington earlier this summer.

"I had drinks with a member of the staff. I was flirtatious with her," the 62-year-old Caplan told The Spectator.

"We had several drinks, I had too many and said some things I shouldn't have said, and the next morning apologized ... I told her that would be the end of my flirtatiousness."

The woman told him his comments bothered her, Caplan said.

But the councillor, who says he can't remember what he said, maintains his actions do not constitute sexual harassment. Source.
